Who is a Gringo?
It is me, of course, I am white, blond haired, blue eyed kid from the USA, a.k.a. Gringo, and I search for Gringolandia, the land of Gringos in Mexico, Central American, and South America.
Higher educated Lationo from Mexico, Central America, or South America appear to have more sophisticated, and Lationo specific politically correct definitions for Gringos. And generally, I think the whites traveling or living abroad are oblivious, and truly do not care. It is difficult to empathize, and care what another culture thinks, we are too busy obeying our own culture, and cannot be bothered to obey two cultures.
Generally a Gringo is to the Non Latinos:
1. A white in Mexico, Central America, South America, or any place that the white are surrounded by people speaking Spanish, and mabye Brazil.
2. Synonymous with Extranjero, the word in Spanish that man Foreigner.
3. Mexico is a little different, and in a mockery way, the Mexican culture sort of hates what they love.
What to think when a person calls you a Gringo?
Well, I have been called "Foreigner" in so many ways over the last 14 years of perpetual travel, and my 90 countries, the answer is... "Who cares?"
Truly, caring what a local thinks is hazardazous to your mental health, worrying about what people think of you is irrelevant. You will not be able to travel the world if you cared what people think of you, it would be paranoid city, and not Gringolandia. But if you must think, then please stop the "German culture" part of your White Culture, please stop thinking, and start feeling, it is a "Body Language" thing.
What did it feel like when the person called you a Gringo? Did the intonations, did the manner of saying seem happy, irritating, or mockery. Was the person trying to clever?
Weigh the persons intentions? Can you do this, maybe 10 percent of Americans are capable, the rest, just miss the game plan here. Stop thinking with our head, and start using your feelings, do they still work? Your feelings almost never lie, if you are not looking for a fight, or have presumptionous feeling. I mean, there are people who presume how they should feel, before they are even close to a person.
Example: Many an American girl cops and attitude towards an American male, before the man speaks a word, she has contempt before consideration. She is looking for a reason to not like the man.
You cannot assume any person on the planet is nice, or bad, they are what they are, judge them as a blank slate, be open, look for a smile, look for happiness, if you see the body langauage of happiness, then continue.
Personally, I consider if quite humorous, only 1 in 1000 Latinos probably would say the word Gringo with a problem in their mind. This is going to happen most with the Mexicans, or Latinos that have gone to America. It is a love / hate relationship, do not think Mexicans love America --- it is not that simple, they want money, as do all people on the planet.
Good Fun do a "Gringolandia" Google Alerts
I have heard the whites in Latin America for years, call the place we were sitting "Gringolandia," which more or less means to the whites, a place where there is an overwhelming amount of Gringos in one place. The land of Gringos, or Gringolandia.
But, recently, and friend sort of thought the term was insulting, and to me, and maybe 99 percent of the whites, we are oblivious. I am not good at taking this word seriously. Generally, the people using in a mocking way, want my money at all cost, and are the obviously the greedy bunch, the boys hanging on the corner, who want to cheat the Gringos, and are lying continously to do so, not much respect from me, for that side of the coin of Latin America.
Now, if a very formal Spanish speaking person suddenly at a Lationo family function called me a Gringo in front of the group, I would erase this person from my life, that means, never to never be spoken to again in my life.
Sort of like a person calling me "Dude," these people generally are erased from my world, I do not tolerate Whites, Blacks, Pinks, Yellows calling me "Dude." It something for 20 year olds, and not a man of 56, it just is not proper. The again, I am from a great family, where we do not sit around trying to be snide at each other, we do not through innuendos and double entendres talk together, we do not do this mockery thing.
But again, can you not be a yes or no, on or off, a 1 or 0, try to weigh a persons intentions, there is an exception to all rules. And, I long ago stopped thinking of words, I now listen to tone of voice, style, and body language.
Again and again, and again, I will say, "Weigh the Intent?"
There is alway an exception popping up in life, and if you want to find happiness, look for the happy though inside of other people, does it exist.
I have learned, there are people primed in life, they have primed themselves to find a problem that does not exist, they make a grain of sand into a mountain ranges, they are primed, ready, and looking for a fight. a.ka. politically correct folks, the PC groups, please weigh people as they come at you, not before.
I like to piss people off, I enjoy provoking the truly anal group, so here goes, I will give you some bible to annoy you. Understand, these words are sage, whether there exist a God or not, and whether you hate your Mother and Father for making you go to Church, or not.
I want to anger the ignorant brutes in life, so the leave me, it is the alpha male way of giving them a back hand.
“You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother’s eye."
“In everything, therefore, treat people the same way you want them to treat you, for this is the Law and the Prophets."
“For the gate is small and the way is narrow that leads to life, and there are few who find it."
“Beware of the false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravenous wolves."
“You will know them by their fruits. Grapes are not gathered from thorn bushes nor figs from thistles, are they?--- So every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. --- A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, nor can a bad tree produce good fruit."
What prompted this post?
I received an e-mail from Google, because I had created a Google Alert "Gringolandia."http://www.google.com/alerts
The alert pointed at: --- Try to think of this as love or hate, it is for sure a love and hate friendship, no simplicity to be found.
This first video is just stupid, but culturally significant, try to empathize with why this person is making this video, what is the intention?
I found this next Gringolandia video:
This is a great video, and sad, the girl is leaving a "family," La Familia, mabye for money, this is not my version the fun lifestyle, and all the hardships involved, and this not just pure love.
My name is Foreigner, after 14 years of travel, it feels like I have lost the abilty to think of myself as Andy Lee Graham.
Call me Gringo, that is my name --- Today.

The Wikipedia.org explanation is horrible: But you may as well go read, nothing to lose, but your objectivity to definitions: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gringo
